This is Bill Coyne and I am honored to be the Training Director for NBUA. With the help and support of the Training Committee we are putting together final preparations for 2017 training. We on the Board of Directors are very excited about the Black and Blue Umpiring Camp being offered in February, more on that later. The traditional training schedule for all tiers is almost finalized and I will post on Arbiter when ready. Anyone who is attending any other professional umpiring camps, please send me an e-mail to receive credit as it pertains to NBUA requirements.
Black and Blue Umpire Camp (BBUC) is a great opportunity but I am not going to advertise much because space is becoming very limited. Good job to everyone who was able to take advantage of the great learning opportunity. Please plan on attending all 3 days of training to get the most of the instruction. The festivities will begin on Fri. Feb. 10 (6:00pm-10:00pm) with a meet the instructors and some classroom work. Sat. Feb. 11 will start at 9:00am on the field until 5:00pm, 1 hour off for lunch, and conclude in the classroom from 6:00pm-9:00. The weekend will wrap up on Sun. on the field again 9:00am-12:00pm. I will send a map the Eastside Catholic High School along with other info at a later date.
Traditional training with a new class of apprentices starts in less than a week and then training for all tiers begins soon after. A training session for the A/B tiers is in the process of being added. The cage training for A/B tiers is being cancelled. That leaves 3 classroom sessions and 2 field training opportunities to get training.
I understand that training this year for the upper tiers is quite different. Everyone’s input is welcomed, after contemplation and reflection. Please feel free to contact me.
I will see everyone soon on the field and in classrooms.
